Nokia has launched a live 5G network trial in Colombia with mobile operator Claro Colombia. The pilot will cover mobile, fixed wireless access (FWA) and corporate 5G services in 3.5GHz spectrum.
Claro has selected Ericsson as the supplier of the operator's LTE network in Costa Rica. Ericsson's LTE solution will include several core and radio access infrastructure products such as Mobility Management Entity, Home Subscriber Server, the RBS 6000 family, and microwave transmission
Wireless service provider America Movil has selected Alcatel-Lucent to rollout a 4G LTE network in the Dominican Republic. Alcatel-Lucent is supplying the America Movil subsidiary Claro Dominican Republic with its 4G LTE network overlay solution.
Claro Peru has launched commercial LTE network in the country. Operator is using its existing 1,900 MHz band spectrum for the 4G service. Claro did not acquire spectrum in the earlier 4G auction.
Alcatel-Lucent has supplied Claro Uruguay, a division of wireless service provider America Movil, with an end-to-end 4G LTE network that will be fully deployed and operational in Montevideo by February 2014. Additional phases of network deployment in 2014 will increase the coverage in Montevideo and other cities.
Brazilian operator Claro has launched LTE network in four Brazilian cities Recife, Campos do Jordao, Buzios and Parati. Earlier this year in August, operator had started LTE pilot in three cities Campos do Jordao, Buzios and Parati.
Latin American wireless services provider America Movil has selected Alcatel-Lucent to provide infrastructure for its 4G LTE network rollout in Latin America. The deployment will commence with America Movil’s operator Claro commercially launching high-speed mobile broadband services to subscribers in Puerto Rico in the coming weeks.
