With the auction of BWA spectrum concluding today after 117 rounds over 16 days, the government is set to gain $8.6 billion.

On the 13th day of the auction the Pan-India bidding price has reached Rs 11,517.9 crore (approx US$2.45 billion), more than six times the reserve price of Rs 1,750 crore.

At 11th day of the auction the Pan-India bidding price has reportedly crossed Rs 98.37 billion (US$2.0 billion).

As India’s BWA/WiMAX spectrum auction is almost 90% complete, the Pan-India bidding price has reportedly crossed Rs 89.8 billion (US$1.9 billion) on the 9th day of the auction. 

India’s BWA/WiMAX spectrum auction is gaining momentum as the bidding price has reportedly zoomed to Rs 79.43 billion (US$1.68 billion) on the 7th day of the auction. 

With 3G spectrum auction over, steps are on to introduce 4G services next year according to Mr Chandra Prakash, Member, Technology, Telecom Commission, India.

After a break of a day BWA Auction got more intese today and it crossed Rs. 5,200 crore (approx $1.1 Billion) at the end. So far 24 rounds of auction has been completed.

BWA Auction has reached to 4185.77 crore (approx $880 million) rupees at the end of Day. So far 16 rounds of auction has been completed.

11 Telecom companies including Qualcomm are expected to bid in the broadband wireless spectrum auctions (BWA) starting Monday on May 24. 

State-owned Indian telecom major BSNL will expand its WiMAX and wireline coverage to provide broadband connectivity to 2.50 lakh villages across the country over the next 2-3 years.
