Singtel today launched a 450Mbps mobile network with the nationwide deployment of 4G LTE-Advanced service in Singapore. This speed enhancement is made possible by Singtel’s nationwide LTE network upgrade to support 256 Quadrature Amplitude Modulation, or 256 QAM.

LTE continues its impressive momentum in North Americas, Latin America and throughout the world. 5G Americas reported mobile subscriber data for the third quarter of 2016 which included significant regional milestones for LTE according to data and forecasts by Ovum. Global LTE connections rose 81 percent year-over-year in the third quarter. 

Ericsson, with Vodafone and Qualcomm, today conducted live testing of advanced LTE Carrier Aggregation (CA) of LTE in licensed and unlicensed bands on a commercial mobile network.

Nokia Networks has been commissioned to provide its latest TD-LTE-Advanced technology to China Mobile. Operator plans to deploy one million TD-LTE base stations by the end of 2015.

Maldives telecommunications service provider, Dhiraagu has commercially launched the LTE-Advanced (LTE-A) technology in country. Dhiraagu customers must ensure that their handsets have LTE Cat6 support with Carrier Aggregation feature using the band 3 (1800MHz) and band 7 (2600Mhz).

Shanghai Mobile, a subsidiary of China Mobile, has deployed the intraband TD-LTE-Advanced small cell carrier aggregation in its commercial network. The technology is being shown live at Mobile World Congress Shanghai 2015 using Nokia Flexi Zone Base Station

Vodafone is implementing LTE FDD/TDD carrier aggregation in commercial network in Portugal, anticipating wider terminal availability later this year. This move will allow the operator to combine the best characteristics of LTE FDD and TDD modes. 

Nokia Networks and Zain KSA today announced their successful completion of a pilot project using carrier aggregation to combine FDD-LTE bands 1800 and 2100 MHz. Conducted in the western region recently as part of Zain KSA’s network enhancement project.

HKT and Huawei have successfully demonstrated an IP-RAN based LTE-A 450Mbps solution (3 FDD Carrier Aggregation) in Hong Kong.

Huawei released a 3.5GHz CAT6 LTE-A device at the 3.5GHz LTE TDD Roundtable at MWC 2015. The device, supporting 2 carrier aggregation with total downlink speed of over 220Mbps, represents the end-to-end commercialization of LTE-A at the 3.5GHz band, according to Huawei.
