Allied Minds is seeking an individual highly-skilled in the areas of strategic outreach, sales and partnership opportunity identification and development, relationship management and complex parallel sales cycles in the high tech areas of 4G telecommunications as well as operations, software product pricing, and contract preparation and negotiation, to serve in the role of Director of Business Development for one of the firm's high-growth subsidiaries that is presently emerging from stealth status. The ideal candidate will have substantial experience at a top commercial carrier and/or mobile wireless OEM. The ideal candidate would possess the ability to work autonomously, as well as have experience working in an entrepreneurial setting and scaling start-ups. The position will leverage the candidate’s demonstrated networking portfolio of major telecommunications tier 1 carriers and 4G OEM. The successful candidate will also possess strong technical underpinning in telecommunications and operations/deployment of 3G-4G cellular systems.

The Director of Business Development will be working for an Allied Minds, Inc. subsidiary company, which is focused upon the development and commercialization of transformative mobile wireless communications technologies for consumers. Initially, the Director of Business Development will not have any direct reports; however, this may change as business needs dictate. Reporting to the GM, the Director of Business Development will be based virtually but will require periodic travel to Virginia, the DC area and Boston.

Primary responsibilities:

• Develop, execute and supervise a plan of action for strategic outreach for potential customers as well as strategic partnerships
• Oversee, nurture and develop relationships with potential and future clients and partners
• Assist with the firm’s product pricing strategy and execution of sales
• Identify customer needs and trends in the industry in order to customize company’s product portfolio
• Negotiate and write relevant contracts (teaming agreements, non-disclosure agreements, licensing agreements, contractor agreements, etc.) with strategic partners and technology users.
• Facilitate and coordinate firm-wide product development between firm’s business development, product design, technical development, and intellectual property development activities.
• Manage the development and maintenance of marketing collateral including online content, whitepapers, slick sheets, and presentations.
• Other operational areas as required by the firm’s General Manager.

Qualifications:

Education

• Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major course work in finance, accounting, business administration, or related field. (Or a technical engineering degree with significant business experience
• Master of Business Administration degree or other relevant technical advanced degree strongly preferred

Experience

• 10+ years of experience in operations, finance or related field required within the cellular telecommunications industry (5+ years with MBA or similar).

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• In-depth knowledge of, and substantial prior experience with, licensing economics and licensing contract development.
• Considerable knowledge and experience with start-up mobile wireless product pricing, and appropriate relevant budgeting/fiscal forecasting.
• Ability to analyze company’s financial results with respect to profits, trends, costs and compliance with budgets.
• Must have strong experience with Microsoft Office Suite, esp. in Excel with extensive spreadsheet experience.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
• Attention to detail and commitment to accurate results.
• Ability to convey customer technical requirement to engineering development team
