Alcatel-Lucent selected by Bouygues Telecom for a trial of Long Term Evolution (LTE) mobile broadband technology

December 8, 2009 – Alcatel-Lucent (Euronext Paris and NYSE: ALU) today announced that Bouygues Telecom has selected its end-to-end Long Term Evolution (LTE) solution for a trial of mobile broadband services ; this trial is intended to evaluate the performance of LTE services in the 1800 MHz spectrum band.

Alcatel-Lucent will serve as the sole supplier and network integrator for Bouygues Telecom’s field trials program which is scheduled to begin in 2010 at a number of sites in the western part of France. The LTE trials program will enable Bouygues Telecom to evaluate opportunities to introduce a variety of new multimedia applications and services.

With this new project Alcatel-Lucent has secured 19 customer trials to date, highlighting the company’s leadership in the LTE market.

For the deployment Alcatel-Lucent will supply its end-to-end LTE solution, which comprises base stations (eNodeBs), Evolved Packet Core (EPC) and its associated management system. It is a key element of Alcatel-Lucent's High Leverage Networkâ„¢ architecture, which is designed to ensure that service providers can support a wide array of services at the lowest possible cost per bit while ensuring an exceptional quality of experience for their subscribers. Alcatel-Lucent also will provide Bouygues Telecom with a full range of professional services including project management and planning, as well as installation, commissioning, integration and test plan execution services.
