Mobilkom & Telekom Austria have conducted a live LTE demonstration on the A1 network. According to press release, From a bus in the LTE supplied test site in Vienna Floridsdorf, a live connection to the TelePresence system of Telekom Austria was made.

The high-resolution video signal was transmitted via fiber optic connections in the TelePresence rooms in the provinces.

"We expect that the growth curve will go up strongly. In the future, these increases only through an intelligent combination of the latest mobile technologies and fixed network can be managed," says Dr. Hannes Ametsreiter, Director General of mobilkom austria and Telekom Austria convinced . "Therefore, we have been working intensively dealt with LTE and start now live on the A1 network," adds CTO DI Walter Goldenits. 

LTE is available in the districts of Vienna and Leopold Floridsdorf City and St. Pölten. Samsung LTE data stick was used for demonstration.

A1 had announced in May to have achieved data rates of 100 Mbit/s with LTE-end devices ready for mass production.

Radio equipments for the pilot project comes from the Chinese network equipment supplier Huawei. Starent / Cisco is supplier for the Evolved Packet Core and  Blueslice for the Home Subscriber Server.
