Oman's telecom services provider Omantel is set to launch its 4G LTE network in the coming few days. According to the company, with the awarding of the LTE network contracts last month by Tender Board, it has now reached a stage where its customers can soon start enjoying 4G LTE services through affordable modems. Operator expects more devices and handsets with even lower prices as the technology grows.

“When developing our 4G LTE proposition, we have focused on real customer broadband needs which were all about speed, reliability and quality. The new low-latency network will offer superior speeds which we expect will have a strong appeal to individual and corporate customers alike making them the perfect fit for almost every customer’s needs” Haitham Abdullah Al Kharusi, Vice President of Omantel’s Consumer Business Unit said.

Omantel has selected Studies and Research at Sultan Qaboos University (SQU) Campus as one of the first areas in the Sultanate to witness the launch of first LTE network. The LTE will be an another addition in operator's existing portfolio of broadband products launched in the past 8 years such as ADSL, 3.5G and FTTH through GPON technology.
