Sophia-Antipolis (France), and Barcelona (Spain), March 2nd, 2015 – 3Roam®, the wireless backhaul specialist for high capacity IP networks, introduces AERO® HCR (High Capacity Radio), a full outdoor microwave radio, for mobile operators needing more than one gigabit of bandwidth in their 4G/ LTE Advanced backhaul, while keeping operating costs under control.

AERO HCR provides up to 1.7 Gbps capacity in a single 56 MHz channel when configured in cross-polarization (XPIC) with compression techniques. It features 1024 QAM modulation to take full advantage of the licensed channel bandwidth in the main frequencies between 6 and 38 GHz. AERO HCR supports Synchronous Ethernet and 1588 Version 2 Precision Timing Protocol to maintain the clock synchronization in the mobile network for operators migrating from 2G or 3G to 4G/LTE.

AERO HCR comes as a full IP microwave solution with a Layer 2 switch and Quality of Service for the transport of voice, video and data. It includes advanced networking capabilities such as Rapid Spanning Tree Protocol (RSTP) and Ethernet Ring Protection Switching (ERPS) for carriers building redundancy paths. The full outdoor footprint provides an easy migration for operators willing to upgrade their network to support advanced 4G standard while keeping their existing spectrum licenses.

“AERO HCR is the ideal solution for mobile operators migrating their network to LTE Advanced” says Jean-Paul Deschamps, 3Roam’s CEO.“AERO HCR optimizes all costs aspects of the backhaul solution with a fully featured product in a small footprint: no shelter required, optimization of the frequency channels and advanced networking capabilities”.

AERO HCR includes an option for AES encryption to secure data transfer in the network.

With a Gigabit Interface and one SFP port, AERO HCR can easily interface to high speed networks to extend the fiber optic backhaul in areas where it is difficult to deploy such as Africa, Asia and Middle-East countries.

AERO HCR comes in two versions (1024 QAM, 256 QAM) and is currently shipping from 3Roam.
