Cape Town, South Africa, AfricaCom 2012, November 13, 2012 – Airspan Networks Inc., a leading provider of broadband wireless access networks, announced today that Guineanet, an Internet service provider in Equatorial Guinea, has been expanding its 4G broadband network operating in the 700 MHz frequency band, using Airspan’s Air4G powerful, compact, macro base station.

The deployment commenced in June 2011 and has been expanding since, extending covering in Malabo, the country’s capital, and Bata, the largest city in Equatorial Guinea. The Guineanet network offers customers high-speed broadband communication for data and VoIP services as well as Wi-Fi hotspots for multi-device connectivity. Having deployed the Airspan’s Air4G, Guineanet will benefit from the product’s integration of LTE and WiMAX platforms, enabling the company to migrate the network infrastructure to LTE simply and affordably, with a software-only upgrade. This will enable Guineanet to continue to serve WiMAX customers while introducing LTE customers at its own pace.

“Airspan’s solutions have perfectly suited our business model and our expansion plans,” commented Tim Edwards, CEO and co-owner of Guineanet. “We chose Airspan for their impressive product performance, exceptional customer service, our long-term relationship, competitive pricing and the availability of a 700 MHz product. We have been extremely satisfied with their products and attentive service and look forward to continuing our network expansion and migration to LTE.”

Amit Ancikovsky, President of Products and Sales added, “Guineanet is another in a series of commercial wins announced this year in the Africa region. Africa is a rapidly adopting 4G market segment and a key target for Airspan. Our 4G technology delivers broadband services to many people that haven’t had access to broadband previously. We have a solid understanding of the African market and of Guineanet’s needs and challenges. We are happy to serve Guineanet and their customers while helping to drive economic growth in the region.”
