in press-release, Altair Semiconductor, LTE

October 9, 2012 – Hod Hasharon, Israel – Altair Semiconductor, a leading developer of ultra-low power, small footprint and high-performance 4G LTE chipsets, today announced that its FourGee Technology will be used by Germany-based AVM GmbH to power the Company’s newest LTE products, the Fritz!Box 6810 and Fritz!Box 6842.

The new products, which are designed to support state-of-the art home networking and voice telephony over LTE Wireless Broadband Connectivity, feature an Altair-based modem that works in up to three LTE Frequency bands: the 800 MHz Digital Dividend band, and the 1800 and 2600 MHz FDD frequency bands.

“We are pleased to partner with Altair Semiconductor, a Company that has consistently provided AVM with excellent LTE modem technology,” said Peter Faxel, EVP of Products and Technology at AVM. “Altair was able to supply us a perfect solution for our Internet Access Devices (IADs) at an early stage, connecting the AVM IMS Voice Stack with today’s LTE-Voice and –Data Networks.”

The modem is based on Altair’s FourGee-3100/6200 chipset, which supports LTE throughputs of 100Mbps/50Mbps on both FDD and TDD variants, using a single software platform. The versatile chipset also covers any LTE frequency band between 700-2700MHz.

“AVM sets the highest standards in terms of product quality and performance and demands first-rate solutions from its partners,” said Eran Eshed Co-founder and VP Marketing at Altair Semiconductor. “LTE Mobile Network Operators stand to greatly benefit from supplying customers with the LTE Wireless Broadband Connectivity and Voice Services that the feature-rich FRITZ!Box offers.”
