DOVADO shifts up a gear with 150Mbps 4G/LTE Mobile Broadband

Dubai Internet City, UAE / Kista, Sweden – September 25th, 2012 - DOVADO, the supplier of mobile broadband routers and software to 4G/LTE and 3G operators and distributors, today announced support for Category 4G/LTE in its wireless routers. This evolution in mobile broadband will deliver subscribers enhanced data rates of up to 150Mbps on the downlink and 50Mbps on the uplink: speeds that outstrip the majority of fiber connections. Dovado’s routers allow these high-speed broadband Internet connections to be shared with multiple users simultaneously via Wi-Fi and/or wired Ethernet.

Owners of Dovado’s existing USB routers can apply a simple firmware update in order to use their new Huawei E3276, the world’s first (Cat.4) 150Mbps 4G/LTE USB modem which has already been launched in Asia Pacific and Northern Europe. More markets are expected to follow in the coming months as most 4G/LTE operators already serve category 3 (100Mbps) devices from Category 4 base stations.

Dovado is committed to supporting the very latest USB modems, often at pre-commercial stage with cooperation from modem manufacturers, thus bringing the best data speeds possible to users of its wireless routers. Being the world’s first router supplier to use 4G/LTE USB modems at very high speeds, Dovado continues to work with all major modem brands such as Huawei, ZTE, BandLuxe, Novatel Wireless, Option, Sierra Wireless and Quanta. Offering this flexibility means that customers are able to use 4G/LTE or 3G modems from any brand, operating at any radio frequency.

“With LTE/4G in the early stages of its lifespan and vendors gradually working towards the holy grail of gigabit speeds, most mobile broadband subscribers today continue to use 3G. As such, it is truly impressive to see a wireless router capable of delivering speeds that not only match, but actually surpass most fiber installations. As more and more 4G/LTE networks are lined up to be rolled out in the coming year, I fully expect Dovado routers to help many operators deliver the quintessential mobile broadband experience,” said Mathias Johansson, CTO of Dovado.

The firmware update (6.1.2) supporting the Huawei E3276 Cat.4 USB modem is available from Dovado’s website (www.dovado.com/firmware) for the following router models: 4GR, DOMA and TINY.
