NEW PORT BEACH, Calif.--Jun. 15, 2012-- Mindspeed Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ: MSPD), the leader in technology for small cells, today announced that the company will be exhibiting at the 2012 Mobile Asia Expo from June 20-22, 2012 at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre in Shanghai, China. The company plans to highlight the capabilities of a variety of small cell base station systems for customers, partners, service providers, press and analysts from booth N1.D63.

Planned demonstrations include:

  • A Transcede®-based long-term evolution (LTE) small cell reference design with over-the-air (OTA) access to multiple commercial terminals;
  • A live demonstration of a time division synchronous code division multiple access (TD-SCDMA) femtocell, as part of China Mobile’s commercial deployment (connected to the CMCC network); and
  • Highlights of Mindspeed®’s new T2200 and T3300 dual-mode small cell SoC reference designs.

Mindspeed is the leader in small cell technology, with 70% share of the high-speed packet access (HSPA) market according to data from ABI Research. The company has 25 LTE design engagements, with recent public announcements from KT, Juni, Powerwave Technologies, Inc., AirWalk Communications and Tektelic Communications Inc. In addition, the company has over 40 wideband code division multiple access (WCDMA) design engagements and six different time division synchronous code division multiple access (TD-SCDMA) femtocell and picocell customer products.

Mindspeed is the only small cell SoC company that has demonstrated support for both HSPA and LTE in its small cell SoCs, and the only one to have shown both frequency-division duplexing (FDD) LTE and time-division LTE (TD-LTE) solutions.

Separately, Mindspeed is participating in the Small Cell World Summit in London, June 26-28, 2012, where Dr. Doug Pulley, chief technology officer of the company's wireless business unit, will speak on the topic, "Small Cell Architecture for RAN Evolution," and will discuss data traffic models, deployment modeling, new strategies for network architecture, SoC architecture and the significance of dual-mode solutions during network buildouts.
