Muscat, 10 March 2012 –  Nawras, Chief Technology Officer, Wolfgang Wemhoff has announced exciting news about the company’s latest LTE service trials. Following previous tests over several months, Nawras is now thrilled to publicly showcase the latest 4G technology in the Sultanate.

Everybody can now test Nawras LTE by enjoying playing online games at the Muscat Grand Mall. Nawras has set up a large screen for mall visitors to test their gaming skills and experience the exciting action offered by this fast wireless technology.

Nawras has also equipped the Muscat Grand Mall – part of the new Tilal Complex in Muscat - with a full fibre network. Following the recent soft opening of the mall, Nawras is now providing a super-fast fibre based broadband service to the new commercial outlets and offices as they begin trading. All other mobile network technologies are also available for the entire complex which is planned to be one of the biggest integrated real estate developments in the country.

Nawras main office is now conveniently located directly above the Muscat Grand Mall and what will be the city’s largest shopping mall, in the central city area of Al Khuwair. This customer friendly company’s open plan style of working continues to be adopted at the ‘Nawras Campus’, as the spacious new office is named.

Enthusiastically making his announcement, Wolfgang Wemhoff, said, “We are very excited to show our wireless LTE technology in the Sultanate of Oman. During our trial period we have been more than pleased with the quality and speed of the 4G LTE service. Nawras was first to provide 3G services back in 2007 and first again with WiMAX in 2010. Once again we are leading the way with cutting edge technology to provide pleasingly different services for our valued customers.”

Nawras benefits from the exchange of knowledge and the sharing of technological advances which result from being a member of the Qtel Group. Qtel is currently connecting the majority of Qatar to the most advanced fibre optic network and Nawras is using the same high standards of quality for its own fibre infrastructure in Oman.

Nawras started to change the telecommunications landscape in Oman almost seven years ago as the Sultanate’s first, privately owned mobile telecommunications company. After introducing many different ‘firsts’ for customers, today, award-winning Nawras offers a full spectrum of services and is Oman’s fourth largest company listed on the Muscat Securities Market, by market capitalisation.
