Sprint Selects Gemalto for LTE Deployment in the U.S.

CTIA New Orleans, May 8, 2012 - Gemalto (Euronext NL0000400653 GTO), the world leader in digital security, announces its selection by Sprint to provide its UpTeq LTE UICC product and the LinqUs Advanced Connectivity OTA Platform for Sprint’s fourth generation LTE broadband service launch. Leveraging Gemalto’s “Always Connected” technology, the LinqUS OTA platform will provide the life cycle management services to Gemalto’s UpTeq LTE to ensure that Sprint customers always have the most up-to-date configuration.

Gemalto’s LinqUs Advanced Connectivity OTA solution, designed for all IP 4G networks, and using Gemalto’s unique secure polling software helps ensure a 100% success rate when updating the UICC for the download and activation of network and subscriber applications.

OTA stands for Over-the-Air, referring to the remote management services for wirelessly connected devices, while UICC stands for Universal Integrated Circuit Card, being the certified and tamper-proof secure personalized subscriber module that enables mobile operators to issue, authenticate and manage subscription to consumers.  LTE stands for Long Term Evolution, referring to fourth generation (4G) of mobile telephony standards, and IP stands for Internet Protocol, the communication software mechanism used to exchange data in the Internet system, and also now in the fourth generation of mobile networks.
