Lexington, Massachusetts, October 30, 2012 - Polaris Networks announced today that Tata Elxsi successfully conducted live demos of its software suite for LTE eNodeB in Japan, using the LTE EPC Emulators from Polaris. This demo was showcased at Tata Elxsi’s Japan office between April and June 2012 for their customers in Japan. The setup for this demo was very similar to the setup, which Tata Elxsi uses at its R&D center in Bangalore to test their LTE small cell software using the Polaris EPC Emulators.

Tata Elxsi’s LTE small cell software suite enables SoC based implementations including L1, L2/L3 and radio integration. The protocol stack for L2/L3 is specially designed for Small Cell functionality and has several improvements and optimization to suit System-on-Chip (SoC) architecture requirements.

Polaris Networks provides Emulators for various nodes of the LTE Network including the eNodeB, MME, SGW and PGW. From the suite of LTE emulators, the MME, SGW and PGW Emulators provide a complete EPC simulation that software vendors and base station manufacturers use for testing the LTE eNodeB. The Emulators for EPC includes HSS and PCRF functions. It has added support for features like ‘Closed Subscriber Group’ (CSG), Over-the-air provisioning, which are specifically useful for testing LTE small cell or Home eNodeB.

The Polaris EPC emulators are extensively used by Tata Elxsi at its R&D center in Bangalore for testing the functionality and performance of their LTE Small Cell software. The three-month long exercise in Japan enabled Tata Elxsi to demonstrate the capabilities of its software implementation for LTE small cells using the Polaris EPC Emulator to its customers in Japan, which generated considerable interest.

“Customers require fully integrated and well-tested software to enable their small cell deployment plans, and our association with Polaris has helped ensure our LTE small cell solution is well-tested and proven not only with third party UE but also the network side. Their ongoing support has been excellent”, said Nitin Pai, Vice President – Marketing, Tata Elxsi.

“As Operators worldwide continue to view small cells as vital to managing the LTE spectrum more efficiently in comparison with macrocells, Tata Elxsi’s LTE Small Cell software goes a long way in helping base station manufacturers bring LTE Femtocells to the market faster,” said Aditya Saraf, VP, Sales & Marketing at Polaris Networks. “We are proud to be associated with Tata Elxsi in helping them test their LTE eNodeB software and also demonstrate their small cell solution to their customers.”

Polaris Networks will be exhibiting the EPC emulator solution at their booth #323 at the 4GWorld in Chicago from 29th October to 1st November, 2012.
