Australia's Optus and Nokia Solutions and Networks have attained an aggregate downlink of 1.7 gigabits per second (Gbps) from a single site on the operator’s live network using commercially available NSN equipment.

AT&T has launched its LTE service in Boulder, Colo.; Hartford and New Haven, Conn.; Boise, Idaho; Bowling Green and Lexington, Ky.; Harrisburg and Lancaster, Pa.; Providence, R.I.; and Ogden-Clearfield, Utah. With this expansion, AT&T 4G LTE is now live in 135 markets.

The small cell and femtocell company, Ubiquisys has announced deployment of its GM7 multi-mode cell for indoor public spaces in small cell programs. The new Ubiquisys cell supports LTE, 3G-HSPA+ and WiFi and is designed for use in a wide range of public spaces.

Orange  France has launched 4G LTE services for corporate customers and will introduce LTE for consumers from February 2013. Operator has now switched on LTE in four cities - Marseille, Lyon, Nantes and Lille. Orange had started a LTE pilot in Marseille in June earlier this year.

AT&T has launched 4G LTE service in four new markets - Ft. Lauderdale, Miami and West Palm Beach, Fla., and Worcester, Mass., and expanded LTE service in Baltimore, Boston and Washington, D.C..

Operator's LTE network is now live in 51 markets. AT&T expects its LTE deployment to be largely complete by year-end 2013.

Magyar Telekom's T-Mobile unit plans to extend the LTE service coverage to suburban parts of Budapest and several country towns this summer. According to the operator, currently it's 4G LTE service is available outdoors for 90% of the population in Budapest and indoors for 73%.

T-Mobile USA has selected Ericsson and Nokia Siemens Networks (NSN) to support It’s $4 billion 4G network evolution plan, including network modernization and LTE deployment in 2013.  

Telstra has launched Australia's first 4G LTE smartphone HTC Velocity today.

Saudi Telecom Company (STC) has added 200 new locations for the 4G LTE in five new cities across the Kingdom.

According to GSA, the Global mobile Suppliers Association, operators are quickly upgrading to  42 Mbps dual cell HSPA+ ( 42 Mbps) systems.
