The different sublayers used in  Radio Protocol Architecture are: Medium Access Control (MAC), Radio Link Control (RLC), Packet Data Convergence Protocol (PDCP) and Service Data Adaptation Protocol (SDAP), Radio Resource Control (RRC) and Non-Access Stratum (NAS). Where:

-The physical layer offers to the MAC sublayer transport channels;

GSA (Global mobile Suppliers Association) reports that 97 manufacturers have announced 821 LTE-enabled user devices, including frequency and carrier variants. Of these, 474 new LTE user devices were launched in the past year. 

LTE 4G promises a higher end-user experience with faster data rates. But, the complexity of new smart devices and new network technology means that to achieve a seamless experience, extensive testing of the devices, network and services prior to market introduction is increasing in importance.  

Qualcomm's next generation Gobi modem chipsets will begin sampling in Q4 2012 and will support both HSPA+ Release 10 & LTE Advanced. The new chipsets will support LTE carrier aggregation and true LTE Category 4 with data rates of up to 150 Mbps.

LteMaps has been updated with recent LTE deployments & commitments. Up to 22 LTE networks are expected to be in service by end of 2010.
